Veggie Noodle Co.’s Veggiccine line received the prestigious Best New Vegetable Product Award from the United Fresh Produce Association at the organization’s annual show in Chicago, Il. Selected by show attendees from a total of 46 contestants, the award was one of five given at United Fresh 2017. By bringing together every segment of the fresh produce supply chain, the annual competition seeks to reward innovation in the produce industry and fosters friendly competition by encouraging brands to be innovative with current dietary trends.
For Veggie Noodle Co., this recognition is a nod to their commitment to providing a healthy, ready-to-eat alternative to pasta for families throughout the country. A fresh take on fettuccine, the Veggiccine line features longer and thicker veggie noodles than the two year-old-company’s signature vegetable spirals. Made from organic butternut squash or zucchini, Veggiccine can be eaten raw or sautéed and can be paired with a variety of cuisines and flavors. The product was introduced earlier this year along with Veggie Noodle Co.’s new Sweet Potato Hash at Expo West in Anaheim, Ca., and is currently being sold in 35 states at major retailers like Whole Foods Market, Target, and Kroger.
“Oh hey, I didn’t see you there,” said Mason Arnold, founder of Veggie Noodle Co., after dramatically swirling his chair around in his office at Veggie Noodle Co.’s headquarters in Austin, TX. “You know what rhymes with Veggiccine? Genie, that’s what. And I feel as though a genie granted our wish to receive United Fresh’s Best New Vegetable Product Award for our new Veggiccine line. What an honor to be recognized among such talented fresh produce innovators doing exciting work!”
“As a parent, making the choice to pursue a greener diet has been easy to make. Veggiccine was fun to work on and has proven to be an incredible (and delicious!) stride towards our goal of helping families eat smarter while having fun in the kitchen. Look ma, we did it! Noodles for everyone!”
A self-proclaimed Veggie Nerd, Arnold developed the idea that became Veggie Noodle Co. after experimenting with various diets to feed his gluten-free family. Based in Austin, TX, Veggie Noodle Co. recently announced that they received a non-GMO project verification.
Additional Produce Innovation Awards at United Fresh 2017 include Best New Fruit Packaging – Go Berries!; Best New Fruit Product – Apple Rings; Best New Packaging/Processing Equipment – Full Harvest; and Best New Food Safety Solution for Food Freshness Card – Nature’s Frequencies.
